{"id":61760,"date":"2026-05-18T09:28:53","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T06:28:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cretanbusiness.gr\/?p=61760"},"modified":"2026-05-18T09:28:55","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T06:28:55","slug":"kazantzaki-odyssey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cretanbusiness.gr\/en\/kazantzaki-odyssey\/","title":{"rendered":"Kazantzakian Odyssey"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>[reading time: 1 minute and 29 seconds]<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Society of Friends of Nikos Kazantzakis (ISFNK) and the Kazantzakis Museum, in co\u2011organization with the Region of Crete, invite the public to an open event titled <strong>\u201cReading the Kazantzakian Odyssey\u201d<\/strong>, which will take place on <strong>Saturday, 23 May 2026, at 19:30<\/strong>, at the <strong>Kazantzakis Museum in Myrtia, Heraklion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event marks the culmination of the online reading marathon of Nikos Kazantzakis\u2019 <em>Odyssey<\/em>, an initiative carried out by ISFNK over the past two years, aiming to bring this monumental work closer to today\u2019s audience\u2014and especially to the younger generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From February 2024 until today, students from schools across Greece \u2014from Agrinio, Athens, Heraklion, Kefalonia, Komotini, Sappes (Rodopi), Mytilene, and Rethymno\u2014 together with teachers, university students, members, and friends of ISFNK from every corner of the world, joined their voices to read the <strong>33,333 verses<\/strong> and <strong>24 Rhapsodies<\/strong> of Kazantzakis\u2019 <em>Odyssey<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The marathon began on <strong>18 February 2024<\/strong> with the reading of the prologue and concludes symbolically at the Museum, through a live celebration of literature and memory.
