Cretan Filoxenein, the institutional initiative of CRETAN BUSINESS, returns in 2026 with a significant development that elevates both the role and the scope of the institution. For the first time, the event will be held as a co‑organization between CRETAN BUSINESS, the Municipality of Oropedio Lasithiou, and the Panhellenic Federation of Hotel Managers (PODIX), following the official invitation extended by the Municipality during the 2025 Cretan Filoxenein Conference in Sitia. This development marks a new phase of institutional cooperation and regional partnership, strengthening the event’s character as a meeting point for stakeholders, professionals, and local communities.
This year’s edition will take place on Saturday, 24 October 2026, at the Oropedio Lasithiou, a location with a strong cultural identity and deep ties to Cretan tradition. With the central theme “Authentic Hospitality Experience,” the 6th Cretan Filoxenein explores how the everyday life of Crete—its people, its flavors, its rhythms, its values—transforms into a high‑value experience for the visitor.
Special emphasis is placed on the relationship between hospitality and the primary sector, which is emerging as one of the most powerful strategic assets of Cretan tourism. Local products, producers, and cultivation practices act as carriers of identity and authenticity, offering visitors an experience that goes beyond the conventional tourism model and connects them with the island’s history and culture.
The new co‑organization with the Municipality of Oropedio Lasithiou and PODIX further strengthens the institutional character of the initiative and creates the conditions for an even broader and more participatory event. Through Cretan Filoxenein, CRETAN BUSINESS continues to operate as a hub for networking and visibility, promoting a model of hospitality rooted in quality, sustainability, and a genuine relationship with place and people.
The 6th Cretan Filoxenein is not simply another event. It represents the next step of an institution that evolves, expands, and gains new momentum through collaborations that reinforce regional cohesion and highlight Crete as a benchmark of authentic hospitality at both national and international level.
