The Karatzis Group has completed a significant social responsibility initiative with the full renovation of the teaching facilities, administrative offices and support areas of the 44th Reserve Officers Training Battalion (44 ΣΔΙ/ΤΕΑ) at the “Daskalogiannis” military camp in Crete. The project was delivered in memory of Miltiadis Karatzis, honoring the values, vision and legacy of the man who shaped the Group’s identity and longstanding commitment to society.

The upgraded facilities provide a modern, functional and highquality educational environment for future Reserve Officers, enhancing the training conditions of a unit that plays a vital role in the country’s defense structure. The initiative reflects the Group’s belief that investment in people, education and institutions is a cornerstone of sustainable development.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior representatives of the Hellenic Armed Forces, local authorities and institutional bodies, highlighting the importance of a project that bridges the business community with public institutions serving the common good. The presence of the Karatzis family and the Group’s leadership team added a deeply symbolic dimension to the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Antonis Karatzis, President & CEO of the Karatzis Group, emphasized that the initiative represents a model of responsible corporate citizenship.

“Our country needs donors—people and companies who think collectively and contribute to sectors that shape our society, whether education, health or public service,” he noted. “This contribution honors the memory of my father, Miltiadis Karatzis, whose values continue to guide us.”

The Commander of the 44th Battalion, Brigadier General Fotios Arbis, described the project as a “substantial upgrade of critical infrastructure,” stressing that the donation carries a meaning far beyond its material dimension. The renovated hall now bears the name of Miltiadis Karatzis, symbolizing the connection between personal legacy, community values and national service.

Representing the Hellenic Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ioannis Papoutsakis, Deputy Commander of ASDEN, expressed sincere gratitude to the Group, noting that modern training facilities shape the knowledge, skills and ethos of future officers.

“Success gains greater value when accompanied by contribution to society,” he stated.

With production facilities in Greece and abroad, the Karatzis Group continues to integrate CSR, community engagement and institutional support into its corporate strategy. The renovation of the 44th Battalion stands as another milestone in a long tradition of giving back—one that reflects the principles of responsibility, respect and longterm commitment that defined the life and work of Miltiadis Karatzis.
