Greek Hospitality Voices Its Priorities at the European Parliament

The Panhellenic Federation of Hotel Directors (POFIX) strengthened its European footprint with President Giorgos Pelekanakis representing the Federation at the European Parliament in Brussels. His participation in the NaTour4CChange event — dedicated to shaping a European roadmap for climate resilience and sustainable tourism — underscored POFIX’s outward looking strategy and its commitment to contributing to the continental dialogue on the future of Mediterranean destinations.
Discussions focused on the mounting challenges Mediterranean tourism regions face due to climate change, as well as the opportunities emerging from climate adaptation, nature based solutions and more effective cooperation across European, regional and local levels. Pelekanakis highlighted the realities experienced by Greek destinations, stressing the need for policies that integrate tourism, climate and biodiversity into a coherent framework capable of supporting long term resilience.
Particular emphasis was placed on financing mechanisms and the implementation of concrete actions within the next EU programming period. POFIX’s presence ensured that the operational needs of hotel management, the pressures on Mediterranean ecosystems and the strategic priorities of Greek tourism were clearly articulated within the European institutional environment.
