The Public Properties Company (ETAD), a subsidiary of the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments, has launched an open electronic tender for the restoration and enhancement of the Achilleion Palace in Corfu, including the refurbishment of its forecourt and surrounding areas. The procedure is carried out in collaboration with the Strategic Contracts Unit (PPF), marking the beginning of a significant new phase in the comprehensive upgrade of one of Greece’s most iconic cultural landmarks.

The project has been classified as a Strategic Significance Initiative and carries an estimated value of 11.52 million euros, excluding VAT, financed entirely by ETAD’s own resources. The total execution period is set at twentyeight months from the signing of the contract. Interested economic operators may submit their proposals electronically through the National Electronic Procurement System until Monday, 21 September 2026.

The tender is conducted by the Strategic Contracts Unit of the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments, acting on behalf of ETAD as the project beneficiary. Its involvement is essential for the advancement of a complex cultural and infrastructure project that requires coordinated planning, technical expertise and robust administrative capacity.

The scope of the project includes the full restoration and functional reintegration of the Achilleion complex into a modern museum environment. It encompasses the completion of architectural, structural and electromechanical works at the Palace, interventions to ensure structural adequacy in line with contemporary standards, the completion of restoration works at the Gatehouse, the upgrade of infrastructure and networks throughout the complex and the redesign of the forecourt. The project also provides for the installation of lighting systems, the procurement and placement of museum structures and specialized conservation works.

The tender represents a pivotal step in ETAD’s broader strategy for the protection, enhancement and sustainable utilization of cultural properties under its management. In the case of the Achilleion, the development plan combines monument preservation, modernization of facilities, improvement of museum operations and the creation of a contemporary visitor experience that respects the unique identity of the site.

With the launch of the tender, ETAD moves from the preparatory stage to the implementation phase, investing its own resources to safeguard and elevate a landmark of national cultural heritage and to establish the conditions for its sustainable operation in the years ahead.
