[1m 11s read]

The Region of Crete has signed a new €500,000 contract to enhance road safety across key sections of the island’s road network. The agreement, signed by Regional Governor Stavros Arnaoutakis, concerns the project “Road Marking Works on Roads under the Jurisdiction of the Region of Crete,” with MAYCON S.A., a company of the Maïdis Group of Companies, appointed as the contractor.

The project includes extensive horizontal road marking, installation of reflectors and delineators, and renewal of safety signage across approximately 150 kilometers of roadway. Interventions will take place along the Heraklion–Moires–Agia Galini national road, the Heraklion–Viannos provincial road, and the Chania–Airport–Tombs of Venizelos section of the national road network. Works involve lane separation markings, junction markings, directional arrows, zebratype diagonal lines, and the application of highdurability reflective paint to improve visibility and overall road safety.

Maïdis Group of Companies: Two Decades of Technical Expertise and International Expansion

The Maïdis Group of Companies began operations in 2002 in Rethymno, Crete, initially focusing on road safety and traffic marking. Over the past two decades, the Group has expanded its activities across Greece, the Balkans and broader Europe, establishing subsidiary companies and strengthening its presence in major infrastructure markets.

The Group specializes in the execution of public and private projects, with emphasis on horizontal and vertical road marking systems for national and regional road networks, airports and major highways. Its longstanding technical expertise, certified methodologies and international footprint position the Maïdis Group as a reliable partner for highspecification infrastructure projects.

The contract signing was attended by Deputy Regional Governor of Heraklion Nikos Syrigonakis, Director of Technical Works of the Region of Crete Michalis Psaroudakis, and technical staff Manos Gonianakis and Andreas Fanourakis, confirming the readiness of the regional services for the immediate commencement of works.

This project marks another targeted investment in Crete’s road safety infrastructure, with MAYCON and the Maïdis Group undertaking a pivotal role in its timely and highquality implementation.
