Professor Floros Appointed CEO of EADIP–HMU

The Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) is entering a new phase of institutional and development-oriented evolution, following the unanimous decision of its Governing Council to appoint Professor Christos Floros as President and Chief Executive Officer of the University Asset Management and Development Company (EADIP–HMU). The appointment marks a strategic step in HMU’s long-term plan to enhance its operational capabilities, leverage its assets and reinforce its role as a dynamic academic, economic and social actor in Crete and the wider region.
Professor Floros has been a central figure in HMU’s advancement over recent years. As a member of the Governing Council, Director of multiple postgraduate programs and head of key research and innovation structures, he has contributed decisively to strengthening the University’s academic credibility, research productivity and international visibility. His leadership has helped shape HMU’s modern identity: outward-looking, research-driven and strategically aligned with the needs of the economy and society.
Upon assuming his new duties, Professor Floros emphasized that the trust placed in him by the Governing Council is both “an honor and a responsibility,” highlighting the critical role of EADIP–HMU in unlocking new development opportunities for the University. He noted that the effective utilization of HMU’s property and resources can significantly enhance the institution’s extroversion, partnerships and engagement with the production sector, entrepreneurship and the broader community.
Under its new leadership, EADIP–HMU aims to operate as a strategic development arm of the University — creating new avenues for growth, fostering collaborations with public and private stakeholders and maximizing the value of HMU’s infrastructure and intellectual capital. The priorities include resource optimization, innovation-driven synergies and the design of new development pathways that reinforce HMU’s role as a leading academic institution in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Professor Floros brings extensive academic and research expertise to the position. He serves as Professor of Finance at HMU’s Department of Accounting and Finance, Director of the MSc programs in “Accounting and Auditing” and “Financial Management,” and Head of the Research Laboratory in “Accounting and Financial Management” (LAFIM). He also directs the Institute of Economic Analysis, Entrepreneurship and Tourism at HMU’s University Research and Innovation Center (PAKEK–HMU). His research interests span financial markets, corporate finance, risk management, modern banking and applied economics. He is recognized among Greece’s leading academic economists in international rankings and currently serves as President of the Multinational Finance Society (MFS).
The Governing Council’s unanimous decision reflects confidence in Professor Floros’ leadership and signals a new era for EADIP–HMU — one focused on institutional strengthening, development-oriented governance and the creation of long-term value for the University, Crete and society at large.
