Re-election of Alexandros Vassilikos: Greece Retains the Leadership of European Hospitality

At the 93rd General Assembly of HOTREC, held today and tomorrow in Vilnius, Lithuania, the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, Alexandros Vassilikos, was re-elected for a third consecutive term as President of the European Confederation of Hotels, Restaurants and Cafés. His renewed mandate confirms the strong confidence of Europe’s hospitality sector in Greek leadership at a time of rapid geopolitical, economic and technological change.
HOTREC is the recognised social partner of the European Union for hospitality and food service, actively shaping policies and legislative initiatives that influence the present and future of the sector. The organisation brings together 47 national associations from 36 European countries, representing approximately two million businesses employing more than ten million people across the continent.
Vassilikos’ re-election is not merely a personal achievement; it reflects the strategic role of Greece in a sector that is central to Europe’s competitiveness and economic resilience. His leadership has been marked by a clear focus on strengthening the voice of hospitality at EU level, promoting fair regulation, supporting SMEs, and navigating the sector through the challenges of digital transformation, sustainability, labour shortages and shifting travel patterns.
As Europe faces new pressures—from regulatory changes and platform dynamics to energy costs and geopolitical uncertainty—the continuity in HOTREC’s leadership provides stability and direction. With his third term, Vassilikos is expected to further enhance cooperation among member associations, reinforce the sector’s institutional presence in Brussels, and advocate for policies that safeguard the future of European hospitality.
