The Science and Technology Park of Crete (STEPC) is strengthening Crete’s position on the international innovation map through a new strategic collaboration with Bilişim Vadisi, one of Turkey’s most dynamic technology hubs. The agreement, signed between EDAP ETEP Crete S.A. and the management company of Bilişim Vadisi, establishes a new framework for crossborder cooperation, creating fresh opportunities for businesses, researchers and technologydriven organizations in both ecosystems.
With more than three decades of continuous operation, STEPC is one of Greece’s most established pillars of innovation. Founded in 1993 by the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), the Park has played a catalytic role in supporting startups, transferring research results to the market and connecting science with entrepreneurship. The new partnership with Bilişim Vadisi aligns with STEPC’s broader strategy of international outreach, enhancing Crete’s role as a regional hub for technological development.
At the centre of this strategy is Dr. Georgios Papamichail, President and CEO of EDAP ETEP Crete S.A., whose leadership has shaped a modern, outwardlooking and highly functional innovation ecosystem. His work has strengthened the link between research and business, expanded international networking and created tangible growth opportunities for technologydriven enterprises across Crete.
During the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation, Dr. Papamichail stated: “Our collaboration with Bilişim Vadisi marks another significant step in expanding the international presence of the Science and Technology Park of Crete and connecting it with dynamic innovation ecosystems abroad. Our goal is not only the exchange of knowhow and best practices, but the creation of real opportunities for businesses and researchers in both ecosystems — through new partnerships, access to international networks and joint technological initiatives. We believe that science, technology and innovative entrepreneurship can serve as strong bridges between Greece and Turkey, generating mutual benefits and new prospects for growth.”
The STEPC – Bilişim Vadisi partnership is expected to significantly enhance the capabilities of companies operating within the Park, offering access to international business networks, new markets and advanced technological expertise. It also expands opportunities for collaboration between researchers and enterprises, supporting the transfer of research results and the development of new technological applications.
With a clear vision and steady progress, STEPC continues to invest in international connectivity and reinforce Crete’s position in the global innovation landscape. The collaboration with Bilişim Vadisi represents another decisive step forward, confirming the Park’s role as a key pillar of development, extroversion and technological advancement.
