The Heraklion Chamber of Commerce is reaffirming its longstanding commitment to regional entrepreneurship and exportdriven growth through its participation in the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), one of Southeast Europe’s most influential trade exhibitions. The Chamber’s presence underscores its strategic role in supporting local businesses as they seek broader market access and international partnerships.

This year, six companies from Heraklion will be hosted at the Chamber’s dedicated exhibition space in Pavilion 2, Stand 12, following an open call that offered members a significantly reduced participation cost. Their presence reflects the region’s expanding production base and the growing interest of Cretan enterprises in global networking opportunities. The 90th TIF, held from 5 to 13 September 2026, is supported by the Central Union of Chambers of Greece and features Japan as the honored country, attracting international visitors, trade delegations and industry leaders from across the world.

The participating companies represent a diverse spectrum of Cretan production — from olive oil cooperatives and natural product manufacturers to water filtration technologies, apiculture innovation and technical services. Their participation highlights the evolving profile of Heraklion’s business ecosystem, which increasingly combines tradition, quality and technological adaptation to meet global market expectations.

Throughout the exhibition, the companies will be supported by senior staff of the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce, ensuring structured B2B engagement, targeted networking and exposure to international buyers. The Chamber views TIF as a strategic platform for businesses seeking to test their competitiveness, explore export channels and build partnerships that enhance their outwardlooking orientation.

President Vangelis Karkanakis emphasized the Chamber’s commitment to strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of its members, noting that TIF offers an exceptional opportunity for both small and large enterprises to position themselves within the international marketplace and pursue collaborations that expand their reach. His remarks reflect a broader strategy: empowering local businesses to navigate global challenges while leveraging national trade events as gateways to international visibility.

The Heraklion Chamber’s participation in the 90th TIF illustrates how regional institutions can play a decisive role in promoting economic diplomacy, supporting innovation and enabling local enterprises to engage confidently with global markets. As Crete continues to enhance its export identity, initiatives like this contribute to a more dynamic, outwardfocused business environment — one that aligns tradition with modern competitiveness and positions the region as a rising force in the Mediterranean economy.
