The Lassithi Hoteliers Association is entering a new phase of operational development, following a unanimous decision by its Board of Directors to appoint Ioanna Sarantopoulou as the Association’s new Office Director. The decision marks a significant upgrade in the Association’s internal structure, enhancing its capacity to support members, produce reliable data and coordinate strategic initiatives across the region.

In her new role, Sarantopoulou will oversee the organization and maintenance of the Association’s membership registry, the onboarding of new members and the management of subscriptions. A key priority will be the establishment of a monthly statistical monitoring system for the performance of the tourism season — enabling the Association, for the first time, to generate its own consolidated and anonymized data for the destination. These insights will be shared through a monthly bulletin distributed to all members.

Her responsibilities also include the coordination of Board meetings, the recording of minutes and the follow‑up of decisions, as well as the day‑to‑day operation of the office. She will maintain continuous communication with the Hellenic Hoteliers Federation, the Cretan Hospitality Network, regional authorities, local municipalities and media partners, ensuring that the Association’s voice is consistently represented at institutional level.

Sarantopoulou holds an MSc and is a PhD candidate. She is the founder of JO IN THE FUTURE, a consulting and mentoring firm specializing in leadership and business development, and has served as a lecturer at the Higher School of Tourism Education of Crete under the Ministry of Tourism. Her collaboration with the Lassithi Hoteliers Association in the ASTEK and Hellenic Mediterranean University internship and accommodation program provided practical solutions to staffing challenges in the region’s hospitality sector. She has also organized a thematic seminar on Hotel Organization and Management with the participation of local hoteliers.

The appointment reflects the Association’s commitment to strengthening its institutional continuity, improving operational efficiency and supporting the sustainable development of Lassithi’s tourism industry through structured governance and reliable data.
