Greece’s presence at IFTM 2026 in Paris was defined by the dynamic role of SKY express, the Cretebased airline that has rapidly evolved into one of the country’s most influential aviation players. As the strategic partner of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) for the major B2B event held at the Ambassador’s Residence, SKY express stood at the forefront of Greece’s efforts to deepen its footprint in the French market and expand travel flows across more regions and more seasons.

The event brought together nearly 200 leading executives from France’s tourism industry—tour operators, travel agencies, OTAs, and senior journalists—highlighting the strong interest in Greece and the growing relevance of SKY express as a carrier that enhances accessibility to a wider network of Greek destinations. The airline’s presence underscored its identity as a company rooted in Crete, now shaping Greece’s international connectivity with strategic precision.

A key highlight was the presentation of SKY express’s expanding network in France, including the new direct Lyon–Athens route, launched during the 2025–2026 winter season. Chief Commercial Officer Gerasimos Skaltsas and Director France Jean Brajon outlined the company’s growth trajectory, emphasizing how its collaboration with the GNTO strengthens Greece’s yearround appeal and supports the diversification of travel flows beyond traditional summer peaks.

The event also served as a platform for highvalue B2B meetings, enabling Greek Regions to engage directly with major French tourism stakeholders. Discussions focused on new commercial partnerships, joint promotional initiatives, and expanded product offerings for 2027. The strong turnout confirmed the French market’s sustained interest in Greece and its readiness to explore new destinations and experiences.

Among the distinguished attendees was Manolis Tsakalakis, former President of the Rethymno Hoteliers Association for many consecutive years, whose presence symbolized the longstanding relationship between Crete and the French travel industry. His participation added depth and continuity to the dialogue, reflecting the island’s enduring role in shaping Greece’s tourism identity abroad.

GNTO SecretaryGeneral Andreas Fiorentinos emphasized that Greece’s strategy centers on extending the tourism season, promoting geographic dispersion, and showcasing new destinations and authentic experiences. He highlighted SKY express as a pivotal partner in strengthening Greece–France connectivity, enabling French travelers to access a broader range of Greek regions throughout the year.

Greek Ambassador to France IoannisMiltiadis Nikolaidis welcomed guests and underscored Greece’s competitive advantages, the strength of Greek–French relations, and the importance of aviation partnerships in sustaining tourism growth.

The evening concluded with a curated Greek gastronomic experience by renowned chef Dina Nikolaou, accompanied by selected Greek wines—an elegant showcase of Greece’s cultural and culinary identity.

With SKY express at the center of Greece’s strategic outreach, the Paris event demonstrated how a Cretebased airline can drive international connectivity, support national tourism objectives, and open new avenues for collaboration. As preparations for 2027 begin, SKY express emerges not only as a carrier but as a key ambassador of Greece’s modern tourism vision.
